Veterans Resource Fair and Employment Event to take place later this month

McHENRY ? Veterans are encouraged to bring résumés when they attend McHenry VFW Post's fourth annual Veterans Resource Fair and Employment Event on April 27.

The first part of the day will consist of the Veterans Resource Fair, which will be from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the McHenry VFW, 3002 W. Route 120. The event will be bringing local, state and federal services together to introduce veterans and service members to useful services available. Several agencies will be present to address each individual's unique needs, including ones in education, finance, Veterans Affairs benefits and health care.

The second part of the day will be the Employment Event, which will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the McHenry post and will feature employers looking to hire veterans. From 2 to 2:30 p.m., the employment event will be open only to veterans and service members. It will then open to the public from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Attendees also will be able to receive Veterans Affairs disability claims screenings, legal counseling and a free veterans lunch, among other services.

The event is sponsored by the Veterans Assistance Commission, TLS Veterans, Illinois Department of Employment Security, McHenry County Community Foundation and Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center.
